Welcome to one of Halifax’s newest running clubs! Lee McCarron is the founder and head coach of the Halifax Road Hammers. Whether you are interested in beginning your running journey or you have years’ of experience, this is the place for you. As Halifax’s premier running club, our mission is simple – we want to help you reach your running goals and ultimate potential.
From recreational to elite, all runners are welcome. Offerings include one on one in person coaching, online coaching, and structured group sessions led by coach Lee McCarron. Our programs provide a hands on approach, and are personalized to meet individual needs. The Road Hammers have grown to be one of Halifax’s largest running clubs over the past year.
The Coach
Lee McCarron is the founder and head coach of Halifax Road Hammers. He spent four years running Cross Country and Track & Field at St. Francis Xavier University where in his final two years he captained the cross country teams which won back to back CIS team medals.
After graduation he transitioned to road racing and spent time in Iten, Kenya at a training camp with two Canadian Olympians. The transition could not have gone better – he has run eight marathons and achieved a personal best of 2:27 in 2013.
Lee started his coaching career in 2011 and spent the next four years with Dalhousie University as an assistant coach for Cross Country and Track & Field teams. During this time, the team won three AUS Championships, and had four individual All-Canadian performances.
